Reliv Classic - May Cause Vomiting, Diarrhea, and More

Below is a response that I posted in response to a comment that we received. Someday I plan on finishing up the list of Reliv Classic Ingredients but for now this is only 1 item and it's bad. I would really suggest that if you are using Reliv products you look for something else ASAP.

Hello Poster - Thank you for taking the time to read some of my posts. I do hope that you keep an open mind and are willing to learn. The comments posted in the article you referred to was a post done by someone else who has had some experience with Reliv. I do wish myself they would send me a little bit more information.

But I would suggest that you take your can of Reliv Classic and read the Ingredients. You will find that most of the items lists are hard to pronounce and you will find that most of them are chemicals. There are other vitamins out there now that are WHOLE food based and when you read what's in them, most of it can be grown in your own garden. Just for this fact, Reliv is kind of scary as you have no idea what most of the stuff is. Not even the Soy is natural as they call it, "Soy Blend".

Anyway I started going through the ingredients for Reliv Classic some months ago but only just got started before getting busy on something else. But here is what I found about 1 Ingredient.

Dicalcium Phosphate, WARNING! Causes irritation to skin, eyes and respiratory tract. May be harmful if swallowed.

-2)Potential Health Effects
Inhalation: Causes irritation to the respiratory tract. Symptoms may include coughing, shortness of breath.

Ingestion: Causes irritation to the gastrointestinal tract.

Symptoms may include nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. It presents little toxicity unless large amount are ingested, in which case, vomiting and diarrhea likely.

Eye Contact: Causes irritation, redness and pain.
Skin Contact: Causes irritation to skin. Symptoms include redness, itching
and pain.

-3)Environmental Effects High concentrations may affect organisms.

And this is just 1 ingredient. This comes with warnings of serious health problems and it's just down right scary. And this makes me wonder what the other ingredients in Reliv are and can do.

If Reliv isnt good, then the company w/c manufactures it should have closed down a long time ago because most people would have already have complained. My 5yr old son got well from a dangerous dengue fever when he drank reliv milk for 2 days.It saved us from having blood transfusion for him.

Hello Poster - Thank you for taking the time to read my Blog.

Sadly you have been blinded by the size of Reliv. Just because something has withstood the test of time does not make it healthy for good for us. Take Smoking, Alcohol, Drugs, etc as examples of this. OK, maybe that is a little bit extreme but then look at all the foods that cause heart disease but we still continue to consume them. I think you get my point.

Reliv is a multi-million dollar business and those who started it and those who are at the top are making money off of you. Every time you use the products you are just putting money into their pockets. They don't care about the effects or side-effects of their products. And this goes to 1000s who are selling the products. They see dollar signs and will say and do anything to get more. (This is the main line of all MLM companies.)

As far as your son, maybe the products helped, but I have "cured" my son of a 105 temp with just a spoonful of Children's Tylenol. And it usually takes two days to do this. :) I hate to pop your bubble but sadly Reliv is given credit for healing when it did absolutely nothing.

And lastly, consider the dangers of feeding your child high doses of Soy. If you want to continue using vitamins, please read the other posts in my Blog about better alternatives.

Hey anonymous...my girlfriend is lying on the sofa with nausea. Oddly, it was just after ingesting Reliv Classic. I was surprised to see so many hits on Google concerning vitamins and nausea. I was not so surprised to find out that Reliv was a MLM product. So many MLMs are based on taking a product, spinning it with some "magic" propriety secret blend, and charging an inflated amount for it to fund the down-line pay line. Most are harmless such as Rexall’s “weight loss product” that was basically psyllium husk, “some propriety ingredients” and orange flavoring if I remember correctly. Would you pay $25 for a bottle of Metamucil? Duh -- 25 years ago I did.

I think I'll just stick with eating vegetables and take my Costco vitamins.

I am not sure how I feel about Reliv yet. I am taking it now with the Innergize because I am nursing and have been so tired for so long I felt like ther was no end in sight. I have been on it for three days and am feeling nasea in the mornings after taking my first shake. I am hopeful that this will go away and I have always had a sensitive stomach. Any insights would be helpful!

Hello Poster - Thank you for visiting my blog and for taking the time to read what has been posted.

I am really sure what to tell you. Many people have found Reliv to be nauseating and just downright hard to drink.

I am not sure if you are having a side effect to the actual product or the taste and texture. I tried taking Reliv for a couple of months and it finally got the point I could not drink the stuff no matter how I tried to hide it. I gagged and pucked more than once trying to down the stuff but for me it was the flavor and texture.

Since you are nursing, I would be very careful about using the Reliv products or any Soy as it's so bad for women. If you haven't, please take the time to read the articles I have posted about the dangers of Soy. There are so many other products on the market that offer the same as Reliv but without the dangers of Soy.

Here are a few that you could look into,

Lifeforce Body Balance
Dr. Organics
Eniva Vibe

All of these products, as well as Reliv can be purchased on eBay. Usually they are cheaper on eBay than buying directly from the distributor. And you don't have someone pushy calling you up all the time trying to get you to buy more.

Also I was sent a video this morning of a new product. I am still checking it out and I know NOTHING about it. But it might be something you want to check into.

www.jonathan.provibranthealth.com

Like I said, I know nothing about it and it does appear to be a MLM. But I did see their products as well on eBay and so this might be a safe way to check it out.

TRW, thank you for taking the time to blog on this. It is tough finding information out there for side effects etc relating to Reliv products. My wife bought Reliv Classic and Innergize to help recover from my beatings on the sports field and from old injuries. An acquintance sold the product and claimed it would work to free me from my allergies too. My wife was overjoyed at this easy fix!

After a week of taking the above I constantly had irritated eyes. My eyes were sore and red and I even felt like I couldn't breathe properly. I had a tightness in my chest. I noticed I had started to gain weight, seemingly water weight, but I don't know for sure. I felt huge and bloated! Also my skin started to break out with spots and looked terrible. I don't know if it is related, but I have been quick tempered this week too. Could be work and training, but I have even surprised myself with some of the anger inside.

I have not taken the products for a couple of days now and I feel much better. My eyes are normal and my frame is somewhat back to normal. I certainly don't feel bloated and slow and can tell the difference in size just by a quick glance in the mirror.

I guess my question is; are these side effects typical of these products?

I hope more people post their experiences so we can compare and show just how "good" this powder is for us!

Thanks again!

Hi. I would like to say a little on Reliv. My sister-in-law is big on Reliv now and has tried to get me on the stuff. It is no secret that I have health problems so she is somewhat insistent on selling me this miracle cure-all because "it would cure all my ailments". Never mind that I've had most for as long as I can remember. I was getting sick of hearing of all these "testimonials" and was telling my dad-in-law how I felt. (they are taking it out of support for their daughter) So, Dad goes to the Kitchen to mix us up a sample while I am in the process of reading the can because I have to watch ingredients of everything because of my many allergies. (another thing it is supposed to cure). I did notice that it's main ingredient is soy which I really didn't care for and some other ingredient I thought a little questionable but overall basic stuff found in a lot of other things (Which seem to be mostly ingredient names that most people have no clue as to what they are or are made of!) I took my sample without much comment not finding any familiarly offensive ingredients. I didn't taste too bad. But, within 15 min. or so after drinking I started too get sick, burping up a different flavor every few minutes, and getting more nauseous by the minute (I haven't been that nauseous since I was pregnant with my 3rd child. It was bad!!), and heartburn like I haven't had in years. The rest of me was feeling sick too with a bad headache coming on and generally feeling ill all over. Very much like some allergic reactions I've had in the past to shrimp and other such. (mind you this is supposed to fix it!) By the time I got home I was feeling very ill, so I took an anti-histamine. (something I haven't had too take in months thanks to other individual supplements chosen for this reason.) Within 20 minutes I was starting to feel like a new person. 30 Min. later I felt normal again and vowed to never take the toxic stuff again!! When I told my s-in-law this she tried to say that It was detoxifying my body and that a body has to get used too it. NO..O..O thanks!! I know when something toxic has entered my body and Reliv is not something I want to Relive!!!! (pun intended!) I really wish that these supposed special cure-alls really were worth the while! As my dad-in-law says,"Everything does not work for everyone. And if you are looking for Jesus in a bottle (or can), you probably better keep looking!" ( BTW He is not totally sold on it and is fairly against the pyramid system too.) Thanks for listening to my rant!

I was introduced to Reliv just over two weeks ago with hopes of being really energised and healthy. We are a heathy family generally but for over a week now I have been having painful n bloody constipation and this last 2 days itchy skin. I usually have my food as organic as possible so I actually thing this Reliv product is full off chemicals given my symptoms. As I write this post I have advised my family that shall discontinue usage. Thanks guys for your posts as these have given me the confirmation I need.

Im so glad i found this sight. I started reliv 5 days ago and I feel really lousy. Ive had more asthma trouble, racing pulse, and headache. I also have experienced itchy eyes and skin. I don't think this product is what it claims to be. I feel like it has too many chemicals in it.
thanks again for your sight. I thought I was going crazy there for a couple of days.

I have stopped taking Reliv because it helped nothing. Since I've stopped a couple weeks ago, I feel movement in my chest and pelvic area that is very unusual, plus I get nausea any time I try to eat anything. Tried it for two weeks, seems like my body is having withdrawals. ITS TERRIBLE.

I went to a reliv meeting. they would not talk about ingredients, when you asked they would say that it has cured so many people of cancer, chronic back pain and all sorts of things. but each time you asked a question they would just give another testimonial about its wonderful results. pretty sure its a scam!

My husband and I were distributors a few years ago. We loved Reliv and even went to some of their conventions. Then the friend that introduced us to it learned of another product that was as good, with less cost, so we began to try it. We told a few members about the other product at the weekly group meetings we attended. Next thing you know, after spending nearly $1K to join Reliv as a disdributor, the legal department banned us from selling. You are not 'allowed' to speak of another product to any of it's members. Reminds me of a cult of sorts. I don't know how they can get away with that, but we had no money to fight about it in court.
