I found the following article on another blog. It caught my attention as first of all, it has part of one of my comments to one of our posters. But also it has some interesting points about Reliv. Please take the time to read through this.

Let me ask you a question...

If someone told you that your cancer could be cured, your achy bones could finally withstand the winter, your acne could be demolished, your wrinkles could be tightened without botox, or that every health problem you had, could be cured by drinking a shake; would you believe it?

In my opinion, I think the majority of the human race would like to believe in such a miracle cure.

And is it impossible? No...there are truly miracle products out there, such as Blue Green Algae, or its refined cousin StemEnhance. But; the truth is Americans don't have the time, patience, or necessary knowledge to do their own research.

Americans are ripe fruits waiting to be picked by all the greedy scammers waiting right there, in the light; with pictures of healthy faces and "authentic testimonies". The pages are covered with comforting words about how "simplicity and convenience are all you need in a supplement". And yet; there are no ingredients listed on the page, no information on the product besides an information request form. But innocent people are being scammed out of their money, these are working-class Americans who can't afford the medical treatment they need; they believe they have nothing to lose by spending $61 dollars on a supplement, because they are desperate for an
answer. These companies know your weaknesses; they see a simple idea, and hopeful Americans wanting only to live a healthy life. They don't care about anyone but themselves, and their pocketbook.

I recently met a woman, at a temp job I am working, who is a seller for a product called "Reliv".

I knew from the instant she told me about it, that at 61.00 dollars this product was a scam.

She told me it cured her turrets, her migraines, and the health problems of her family members, and other people she knows through her "distributor network".

When I proceeded to ask her how it was processed, and what the ingredients were, she told me; "I'm not a scientist, I just know it works" and "Its been developed by scientists"

Anyone can be a scientist, if they have a brain and an education.

I went home and did my own research, I knew she expected me to be sold on her miracle cure, after her flagrant lies about how she had known of customers who have had their Grave's Disease cured(which I mentioned I had, before she said anything). She is an actress; literally, a broadway actress. I'm smart enough to know when someone is trying to play me, and I damn well won't take anything that doesn't have an ingredients list.

The bottom line, after searching through several dead end pages, its a protein shake made of soy, with a combination of vitamins, and herbs. All available at a very discounted price when buying in bulk from an herbal store, or online from a vitamin supplier such as NOW.

The grand total is 61.00 for the shake, but its other product lines include; a weight lost miracle cure, an acne treatment, etc etc.

These companies are giving supplements a bad name. We are in a constant war against the AMA, and the government, just to keep our natural supplements, and companies like this are the very evil giving us a bad name.

The dangers of soy are also very prevalent if one does enough research, it is a cheap mass produced grain, that a large portion of the populace is allergic to. How safe can a supplement without its ingredient listed be?

I encourage you to do your own research, before wasting money. It takes a couple minutes out of your day, as opposed to several days of labor lost to a "miracle cure". Can your family or you really afford to guess at the benefits of a mystery miracle product?

I am so thankful that people like this are willing to share the negative experiences they had with Reliv International.

"I was recently put on Reliv by my medical Doctor. He said it was natural and that the percentages of nutrient value was 100% unlike pill supplements. I was to drink this 3 times a day and see him in six weeks. He said they would follow up with me during that time. He put me on three products; Original, Innergize and Fibrestore and I was to stop all the supplements I
had been taking. I found that I was tired all the time and my eyes were itchy and burning. I have never done well on any soy products and this product is soy-based. I only could do the Reliv for a week and had to stop to see if the Reliv was the problem. I went to a person who does muscle
testing and she found these products were not a good thing for me. Once off the product, I felt better and was taking my original supplements. Still, since I had spent so much money for them I decided to give it another try. Same thing... just didn't feel very good when on this product. Today the doctor's wife called me. She is the one who stays in contact with the people who are put on this. I had already deduced this was a MLM company from the literature he gave me. She told me to go back on the products and cut down the amount of powder I use from one scoop to 1 teaspoon per serving. She also told me she would call me several times during the first month and have me listen in on other people's testimonies of what the product did for them and also to the 'business' information. I told her I would not be interested in being a distributor, she said that was okay but it was at the end of each testimonial. I am rather upset about this. I don't and won't listen to these testimonials. I am not going to take anymore of this product. I am disappointed in my doctor for doing this. He's a very nice doctor and he follows a more natural practice instead of prescribing drugs. But, now I may have to change doctors to avoid the uncomfortable situation that has arisen from this product and how it affects me."

I think it's absolutely WRONG for a Medical Doctor to be prescribing any natural products to his patients. This is a conflict of interest because Doctors aren't supposed to be in business to get you well, but to bandaide the symptoms to keep you coming back again and again spending money.
Otherwise, hospitals would be out of business.

And sadly this doctor has either been misled himself or is outright lying to you. Reliv is not a Natural product. If you take a moment to look at the ingredients from any one of them products, most of the items listed are chemicals.

Reliv Support Calls - Are they true?

Here is the last that I heard from our poster. This is the 3rd response and if I get anymore emails I will pass them on for you to read. It is sad what Reliv has done to people around the world. Please read her email and my response.

I'm so glad you set up your web site so people can learn from others mistakes...like ours...

Unfortunately, I think the people that these companies target, are so trusting .... they don't even check the web...They figure that "it has to be so", if the sales people from this company believe so highly in it...(and may even be people from church or the gym...)

These companies also give out phone numbers of piped in alleged "success stories" to help boost their "spin" on this product......omg...

All I did was "Google" Reliv...and instead of information concerning "nutrition", you immediately get information on "multilevel marketing"..and "how to make money "selling Reliv"...

If this was a legit nutritional company, caring primarily on nutrition for people, then there would be a lot more goggles concerning the health benefits of this product...(after all they have been around for what 20 years???)...and there simply is not...Most of the hits are about the "pyramid effect of marketing and how to make money..." That should be a sure sign to anyone considering taking this product!!!

It just makes me sad...

It is helpful, however, when someone can learn from another's mistakes... like the "real people" on your website... . without having to make the same mistakes themselves...

Sad but true! I have had a couple of people contact me saying that they were considering joining and after reading some of my information were having second thoughts. I can only hope they stayed away.

I think some of these stories they share are true but I also think many of them are fake. I have sat through some of these Reliv meetings and listened to people share their personal testimonies. I know these people and I know what fixed them and it wasn't Reliv but Reliv got the credit so they could sell more and make more money.

Reliv pays out a very high portion of the money sold to each upline. I always thought that if a company cared so much about helping people, they should drop the MLM and sell their products directly at a much cheaper cost. But they don't and this only proves that they want to make money.

Reliv Lied - Reliv's Terrible Return Policy

Below is part 2 of the experience I received from one of our readers. As she has learned, Reliv is not as honorable as you may have been led to believe. Yes they do offer an unconditional money back guarantee but it's good for only 30 days. I have heard many many many distributors tell their customers that they might not feel the results for at least 2 or 3 months. And this is way past the normal 30 day return policy. If you fall for this trick, kiss your money good bye. And if Reliv was truly honorable, they would offer a 90 money back policy.

"I Got a great response from these folks at Reliv.........NOT...

I simply asked for a refund of my mom's money, very cordially, and oh, guess what...

they said no..(are you surprised???)

I did get to speak to a woman from Ohio though, ..who would not give me any information, but tried to tell me that the first ingredient on the label was not "fructose"...omg... These people are so "trained" to deny any wrong doing, that they straight out lie about it...

Needless to say, I'm going to continue to attempt to get her $$ back based on the simple premise that the label says "If you are not completely satisfied for "ANY" reason, you are entitled to your money back" ...Their response was "well it has been over 30 days."..

my response was "Well, had my mom not solely relied on the fact that you told her to not only "take more"... but she needed to take if for at least 90 days before seeing any results, than she could have got her money back in 30 days"...I asked why they tell people that, and the man told me "I never forced your mother to buy it"..

.I told him she trusted what he was saying to be true...and that is where the deception and misrepresentation comes in...

Needless to say they (it was a conference call) continued to say they did not have to refund her money, so they would not. I explained that any reputable company who has a written guarantee of satisfaction, would want to make sure that their customers were satisfied...They proceeded to state that I was the one who was being un-reasonable...

The man who sold my mom the product kept claiming he "loved my mother"...he said "she is such a wonderful woman"

I then told him if he did in fact "love her" then he'd simply try to help her, by giving her $215.00 back......For a woman who is 82, and on a fixed income, $215.00 is huge...

Honestly I am not surprised. While many in Reliv claim they are trying to "Nourish the World" (This it the motto of Reliv), I have always felt that MOST are there to make money and they will do anything to accomplish this. The people that brought us into Reliv were friends and they didn't directly lie to us but got as close as they could. They did cover a lot of the facts or maybe they forgot to tell us. :)

Sadly, I don't know if there is much that you can do. Normally it's the Distributor who sold the products to your mom that should issue the refund. The company itself does not do this. And so if this man is so bad as to not issue a refund you are kind of stuck.

Personally while I was selling Reliv I never had to issue any refunds but my mom (my direct up line) had a number of people come to her and many of them were past 30 days. My mom could not tell anyone no and so she gave them their money back.

Anyway, I am really sorry this has happened to you. And this is exactly why I have created my blog. I want to give other people a chance to read these stories before they fall for the same lies.

Reliv Distributors Preying on Elderly and Sick

Hello Everyone - I received this email last night from a concerned daughter, whose mother has been preyed upon by a pushy Reliv Distributor. It pains me to receive emails like this. This is one of the biggest reasons I don't like Multi Level Marketing as it forces people to push their products on helpless people. In the store, I can at least choose what I want to buy.

"HI...I came upon your site through google...

I noticed that you posted and have some background on this "Reliv" product...Wanted to tell you about an unfortunate situation, and wanted to know what you thought...

I came to visit my 82 Year old mom in NC,,,Hadn't seen her for a while....

First thing I noticed was that she was coughing all the time, (very shallow, like an irritation, not sick...cough,) and her nose was running all the time too...and if that was not enough, she had to go the bathroom constantly...

I said mom, seems like you have a cold....what is wrong...She told me it's just "getting old"..."I don't cough"...(but it is very noticeable to someone who knows her) She does not even realize she is doing it any more...

I told her she should not be coughing if she did not have a cold......Then she said

" I have to take my shake again"...I said "what are you taking. mom"???..

She then told me that some man approached her at the GYM she attends, a few months ago, and told her about this product that would cure all her issues...he is not a doctor, but told her to stop taking all her vitamin supplements, and to just buy this VERY EXPENSIVE drink supplement. ...she has arthritis, and has stiff joints (like any 82 year old) but she is in fantastic shape...just aches and pains...She has very little money to live on, but totally bought into what the man had to say about this product...He forced his way even to come into her home to sell this to her...

I asked her for the cans, so I could see the labels, and the first ingredient is "fructose"...omg... that is no natural supplement...it's SO NOT!!! There is nothing in there that you could not get from Centrum or any other multi vitamin...

Even while I was here visiting, the "shake man" called her to see if she "needed to buy more"...He is so trying to simply GET HER MONEY!!!

PLEASE TELL ME what is this all about, and how can they get away with selling something that is not what they tell people it is? I'm furious, but want to know more, before I send the nastygram to the man who is praying on my very poor, amazingly sweet, very religious and trusting, beautiful mother...

Any info you may have would be very helpful..."

And now my responce. Sadly I didn't have much to offer. Maybe someone else reading this has had some experience and can post a reply to this blog about how they got rid of a pushy Reliv Distributor.

"It is terrible to hear about this Reliv Distributor preying upon your mother and the many others I am sure. Sadly many of them have chosen to leave behind good paying jobs for the lie of making big money selling these Multi Level Marketing products. And therefore they must be very pushy as their livelihood depends on it.

I really don't know what to tell you. Most of the information that I have is already posted on my blog. I do hope that you have taken or can take the time to read through it.

While on one side, I have heard of many stories of Reliv helping people, I also know of many where is can cause many serious problems. And as you have already discovered, Reliv is far from Natural. It has many chemicals and other synthetic additives. Not to mention it's high soy content.

The only thing I can suggest is do what you see fit. If your mother is really not having results tell the Distributor to get lost. If he continues to be pushy, you could try calling Reliv and complaining directly to them. I am not sure if they would do anything about it or not. There phone number is, 1-800-735-4887. I would suspect you would want to talk with Distributor Relations.

And keep a close eye on your mother. My former upline is very pushy and if a person does not have results they simply tell the person to take even more, sometimes up to 10x what is recommended on the cans. My upline was so bold as to tell a friend of my mom's that the "doctors don't know anything". This distributor told the person stop medicines and just take more Reliv as it would "cure" her. The person listened and now she is on her death bed.

What’s REALLY in Reliv?

The Following was taking from today's Dr. Mercola's Newsletter. I did not print the whole article about Vitamins as it was not prevalent but I did find his comments interesting.

Americans spend an estimated $21 billion a year on dietary supplements, and while I am not opposed to multivitamin supplements, as I personally now take one everyday, what many people do not realize is that it is up to the dietary supplement manufacturer to make sure their supplement is safe and effective, and that the label is truthful and not misleading. Who Knows What’s REALLY in Your Supplement? While you are relying on the vitamin company to provide you with a high-quality product, vitamin manufacturers typically rely on a “certificate of analysis” to confirm that their raw ingredients are safe and effective. And where do you think they get this certificate of analysis? Directly from the supplier of their raw materials. There is currently no requirement to do an independent, third-party verification to validate that the raw materials in the supplements are what they say they are, or that they are in the stated amounts. On top of that, making supplements is a highly complex process with a large number of steps -- and errors can occur at each and every one of these steps. Outside of the ingredients themselves, small oversights, human error, or cutting corners can lead to a supplement that is entirely substandard, or worse yet even dangerous. So when it comes to choosing a supplement, weeding through your options can be like pulling a needle from a haystack. Even though you are well educated and have good intentions, if you are choosing your supplements on price alone, which is typical at a chain drugstore or large discount mart, there is a good chance that the supplement has not been verified through a rigorous quality control process. It is also likely made from primarily synthetic ingredients. Remember the Meaning of “Supplement” Supplement, of course, means IN ADDITION TO, not in place of. And this is simply something that no supplement is going to provide you. The only place you are going to get high-quality biophoton nutrition is from high-quality food sources. Whole food sources also have the accessory micronutrients that may actually be providing more of the benefit than the precise nutrient you are seeking to supplement with. And of course there is the occasional drug company that ignores the rules and produces inferior and sub-par products, but fortunately they are the rare minority. The quality control issue will change in the United States at least, as very rigid standards have been adopted legislatively and depending on the size of the company, they will be under similar quality assurance standards in the next few years. BUT, why wait till then? Do Your Homework!!! There are a number of high-quality manufacturers out there and you want to make sure that your company is following the ISO guidelines. Take the time to ask the right questions, call the company or do independent research on the Net to confirm some of the issues I bring up in my new supplement page. Now, as for finding a high-quality supplement, there are several things to consider. First, you want one that is made from all-natural, non-synthetic, whole food ingredients. A high-quality supplement will also be free from additives and potential allergens. Next, you need to make sure that the manufacturer is doing its job in finding quality raw ingredients, and during the manufacturing process. A good starting point is to ask for opinions for which companies are best at a reputable health food store, and also look for manufacturers that are ISO 9000, ISO 9001, or NSF certified. To gain these certifications a manufacturer will voluntarily submit to exhaustive -- and costly -- auditing of their processes to be sure they are superior. The bottom line is this: your best choice for your nutrients is fresh, high-quality, unprocessed, whole and preferably raw food, plain and simple. But if you are looking for a bit of extra insurance, a truly all-natural supplement can sometimes be warranted.
